I don't know if I'll come back after they legalize weed in Canada :p
Seriously, Yes, I'm definitely coming back. I have friends in Utrecht that I visit every time I'm in Europe for work.

I went but with other salsa friends as offbeat went to a beer party and tres fort was 2 hours late :p

The Foodhallen is awesome!!! So much delicious food :) The four of us shared food from several stands and it was all really yummy :) Especially the sushi!

There are about 20-25 stands/restaurants with different cuisines -- we had Indian, dim sum, sushi, Spanish ham, dessert, and the other three people also got wine :)

Sounds great! I'll add it to my list of things to do when I get my life back :D

What!! When did I say that. I went to the area of the floor you pointed to but I couldn't find salsagipsy. I think she probably had left.

Lol maybe I imagined it then, or maybe you didn't hear me when I asked :p I have this memory of asking you if you found salsagipsy and you nodding your head. The again you dozed off several times that night so maybe you didn't really process what I said. :p Or maybe really did just imagine it :D

So I'm checking out some Amsterdam videos and I realized I danced with Fadi Fusion without realizing :D He looked like a good dancer so I went and asked him :) Very nice friendly guy. He actually lives / teaches in Luxembourg so I may meet him here once I finally check out the local salsa scene :D

You guys sound like you were already exhausted after Friday. :D

Yes, I was moving a lot because I kept running out of guys I wanted to dance with, so, I was checking other areas or the other room. But it's amazing how difficult it was to find anybody in a room where you could almost see everybody on and off the floor. It took me quite awhile to find Sabrosura after I first spotted her while I was dancing. I did a CBL and she was gone and then it took maybe half an hour to find her again. And I was constantly scanning the floor but couldn't find you.

Ha, that's because I was stalking good leads around the room like a panther :p So I was constantly circling the room :p Gone are the days when I would stand there by a wall next to 50 other follows and wait to be asked by someone, the stalking panther approach is way better :D

It was pointless to wait to be asked for at least the first half of the party - probably before you came, there were indeed dozens of followers just standing by the floor. But also my problem was that I would look around and not find anybody I wanted to ask. Either no guys, or guys I didn't want to dance with, or guys clutching their drinks defensively

The funniest moment I had was when they played a Cuban song and a guy was asking a group of girls if anybody dances Cuban. They were kind of slow in responding, so I snatched him. :D He and his friend were probably some of the very few Cuban dancers at the congress. Oh, and amazingly enough the best dance I had that night was Cuban. :)

Damn, I wish I had been there when he asked who dances Cuban :) I actually really wanted to dance casino to that song (I remember it was a nice song :) ) Nevertheless I ended up dancing it with one of my favorite leads at the congress, so I enjoyed it :)

Actually, one lead (not Cuban) did attempt to dance casino with me but the attempt failed as his timing was way off. I told him I couldn't follow him because he was switching beats all the time, and he gave me the whole "I don't count the beats" spiel, or something along those lines, I didn't hear because I was already not listening :p

Overall the average level of the leads was fairly low, as you observed as well, but there were a few diamonds hidden in there, but you really had to stalk around the room a lot to find them :p I'd say I found probably about 5 good leads, and had multiple dances with some of them during the two nights. I stayed away from the celeb area by the stage for the most part as it looked to cliquey, except for when I asked Fadi Fusion to dance (without knowing it was him, I realized later when watching the videos :p ) Finding those leads was enough to make me satisfied, but nowhere near the awesome leads I danced with in Paris (as I told you in person :) ) Actually one of my favorite leads at the AMS congress was, as expected, a Parisian I had met in Paris the prior week (Onassaka, I posted his video in the social dancing thread).

Either way, it was lovely to meet you! Even though we didn't get to dance together like we had intended :(

PS Just saw that this was my 5001st message!!! And I am now a "WEPA!" member! :dancingbanana:

There were people missing that I expected to see and was hoping to dance with. I don't know why because it was not less crowded than last year, still the same number of people, just different crowd. Next year will be at another time, so, who knows how it will be. Would be nice to again have visiting SF-ers but maybe less chance if it doesn't come a week from a big festival like Warsaw.

Consider yourself lucky. Since I only dance once a year for the last several years and I haven't led at all for four or five years, it would have been a disaster
